MORECAMBE could face local rivals Southport again after winning through to the fourth round of the FA Trophy.
The in-form Shrimps will take on Phil Wilson's side at Christie Park after easing through the third round with a comfortable 2-0 victory over King's Lynn, if the Sandgrounders manage to get through their replay against Gresley Rovers, which was being played as the Citizen went to press.
The fourth round tie is due to take place on February 2, meaning Morecambe's trip to relegation threatened Leigh RMI will have to take place in midweek.
A clash with Southport would arguably be the tie of the round and attract a healthy crowd to Christie Park.
And the home draw must leave the Shrimps as favourites to take another step along the road to the final later this year.
The third round saw relatively few shocks, with league leaders Boston losing at Northwich probably the biggest.
Jim Harvey's side are also in Christie Park action on Saturday when they take on mid-table Hayes as they bid to carry on their vastly improved form in the Conference.
Morecambe are currently in seventh place, but remain just three points behind third place Yeovil with two games in hand as a result of cancellations in recent weeks.
Saturday's game saw the team from the Dr Marten's league sniffing an upset and they could have taken a surprise early lead when Zeke Rowe shot weakly straight at Craig Mawson.
However, Morecambe's superior quality began to show and a clever quick free kick caught out the Kings Lynn defence.
John Hardiker rose highest at the near post to head home.
Lee Hudson got a rare shot on target for the visitors, but Mawson was equal to his effort.
Morecambe were dealt a blow at half time when Robbie Talbot, their leading scorer this term, was taken off through injury.
The Shrimps did manage to double their advantage however, with a first--time lob by Jon Norman from the edge of the penalty area that sent the fans back home happy.
Morecambe did suffer a second injury blow late on when Hardiker, who had suffered a knock early in the game, was replaced in the last 10 minutes.
