A THIRTEEN-years-old girl is one step closer to her dream of playing netball for England after being selected for Lancashire.
St Mary's High School pupil, Kate Smith, of Higher Green Lane, Astley, has played netball for Oldham for two years and was a member of the winning team when they beat off nearly 50 teams to win the National Championships in Essex before Christmas.
After weeks of trials Kate, who plays wing defence, has been chosen to play for Lancashire, meaning now the ambitious teenager plays for three teams -- Oldham, Lancashire and her school.
She trains three evenings a week and is currently saving to go on tour to Australia with Oldham next year.
