A GOLBORNE business has been given permission to change the use of its premises -- despite a handful of objections for local residents.
Wigan Council planners have approved a retrospective application from storage and distribution business Star Services (Management) Ltd to service and repair vehicles on its Jubilee Buildings site, a former cinema, on Grimshaw Street.
The company has got the go-ahead to continue to service and repair their own business vehicles -- which they say is essential to their distribution service -- also be able to carry out a limited amount of repair work on other vehicles.
Several objections were made by nearby residents and two councillors who were concerned the proposal would increase noise and disturbance.
But planning officers concluded that because most of the service and repair work will be done inside the main building there was nothing to suggest it would cause undue noise and disturbance.
