BLACKBURN Harriers have acquired their own exclusive facility in Witton Park for the first time.
Having moved to their current base just after the Second World War, they had been unable to build a club house in the public park, but now Blackburn with Darwen Council have stepped in to present them with a room within the existing pavilion.
The Council have carried out structural alterations to make it suitable for the Harriers needs and for weeks club members have been busy furnishing and decorating under the guidance of Debbie Wood and Ian Hamilton.
At the recent Lancashire Cross Country Championships it was opened officially by Lancashire Athletic Association President George Kirby, a lifelong member of the Harriers.
On the day it was used to entertain visiting dignitaries, and now it's full range of facilities will be available for all members to use on club nights.
