EMPLOYING disabled people is good for business.
That's the message from Remploy, the UK's largest employer of disabled people, which has a significant base in Eton Hill Road, Radcliffe.
The company has launched a booklet, Positive Employment: A Practical Guide to the Disability Discrimination Act.
As well as providing an up-to-date interpretation of current legislation, the booklet also offers clear but simple advice on how employers can meet their obligation.
Remploy points out that only 20 per cent of disabled employees need an adjustment made to their work environment, and that the average cost is less than £200.
The booklet also outlines the business case for employing disabled people who, it says, often have better punctuality and attendance records.
Disabled people also tend to be more loyal to their companies and their commitment, efficiency and productivity compares well with their non-disabled colleagues.
Bury businesses can obtain copies of the booklet by ringing 01295 275 333.
