AFTER coping with more than 250 sick and injured animals last year, Janis Dean, of Fylde Hedgehog Rescue, Carleton, is enjoying a welcome quiet spell.
Or she was until she found she has a shop to stock and run!
Explains Janis: "This is our quietest time because hedgehogs are hibernating out of harm's way. But, due to a cancellation, I've sudenly found I can use the Methodist Church charity shop in Chapel Street, Poulton, from Saturday, February 9 to Friday, February 15.
"It's a wonderful opportunity to raise funds to buy equipment for our new hospital unit which will open in the spring. But I've only got three weeks to find enough items to sell.
"So if anyone can donate things like good quality bric-a-brac, clothing, and books I'd be grateful if they would phone (01253) 899404/890496 and I'll arrange for the goods to be collected. Alternatively items can be handed in at the shop between 9am and 4pm from February 9-15."
Fylde Hedgehog Rescue was formerly known as the Carleton Hedgehog Hospital and the name has been changed to reflect the greater area which it now serves.
