"ALL By Myself" is just how musical star and all-round entertainer Richard Swerrun likes it on stage these days.
And lucky Blackpool fans can catch the former star of hit musicals Joseph, Y and West Side Story in his dazzling one-man show at Blackpool Grand Theatre on Sunday.
Richard, who recently scooped the Variety Club of Great Britain's Best Vocalist Award, told The Citizen: "This is something I've wanted to do for a very long time. It's a lovely opportunity just to be me and not someone else. It's taken six months to put together and all the songs are ones I love to sing.
"It will be a big, upfront, brassy evening with big emotional, gut-wrenching numbers like The Man That Got Away -- I'm not afraid to sing songs that a man wouldn't normally sing. Maybe I'm in touch with my feminine side!"
Joining Richard will be a seven-piece band, musical director Simon Fricker and also Richard's faithful companion -- a West Highland terrier named Derek! Although he'll be wagging his tail in the wings. "I take Derek everywhere and he's been on the road for eight years now," said Richard. "And I can't wait to get to Blackpool. I love it because it's so real and the Grand is the prettiest theatre in the world."
Catch Richard Swerrun in Cabaret at Blackpool Grand Theatre on Sunday from 7.30pm. For tickets at £12 call the box office on (01253) 290190.
