I COMPLETELY agree with correspondents Mr Harry Grewer and Mrs E. Bishop of Whitefield (Jan 4) regarding Fairfield Hospital and the Ring and Ride service.
Some time ago, I was a patient on Norris Ward in Bury General Hospital until I was transferred to the old Ward 8 at Fairfield Hospital. During those long months, I could not have wished for better treatment, help, kindness and understanding from all the doctors, nurses (bless 'em) and ancillary staff. It could not have been bettered anywhere.
Mrs Bishop wrote concerning the magnificent work done by the drivers of Ring and Ride.
My wife and I are both registered disabled and experience great difficulty getting about. This was especially difficult when I had to spend time in a wheel-chair. We have recently been deprived of a local bus service (560-508) and have to rely on the help and courtesy of the Ring and Ride crews and local taxis.
