I HAVE just read about plans by the council to spend more than £500,000 on projects to spread the internet learning process.
I am a regular internet user, and find it funny that the council can waste half a million pounds on something like this while the Bury Arts & Crafts Centre has to seek private funding, and a group providing much-needed furniture to desperate local families may be forced to close through lack of funds.
Anyone with a brain can use a computer, without any assistance. Operating systems are designed in that way; it isn't too technical. I taught a friend in five minutes how to set up internet access and full operate it, sign up for a email services and do word processing.
If the council want to spend half a million pounds on doing this, then they clearly have money to waste! It would be better spent on youth football. Maybe that would cure our teenage "street corners" problem.
