NORA Tomlinson Peach, who lives in Nova Scotia, Canada, is anxious to trace a hymn tune which her father used to play when she was a girl in Oswaldtwistle. Has anyone a very old Primitive Methodist Hymn book?
The words of the hymn are:
Thou shepherd of Israel and mine,
The Joy and Desire of my heart,
For closer communion I pine
I long to reside where Thou art."
The tune is called Shepherd and could be No 305 in whichever hymn book it is in.
Nora is the sister of John Tomlinson, the renowned Wagner opera singer. I would be grateful if anyone who can help contacts me on 01254 54303.
