SUSPENSIONS are going to take their toll on the Shakers relegation fight in the coming weeks.
Full back Jamie Stuart has discovered that his reward for the red card he received against Huddersfield Town last week is a four match ban. The straight red would normally have been a three game suspension but because the former Charlton Athletic man was sent off for a similar offence at Brentford in October the Football League have extended it by one match. Stuart will miss the Wrexham home game, Reading (home), Chesterfield (away) and Cambridge at home.
Meanwhile Jason Jarrett will also miss the Wrexham match after picking up his fifth yellow card again during the Huddersfield match. Steve Redmond has a three game suspension handing over his head following his sending off at Queens Park Rangers, however boss Andy Preece has sent a video of the game to the Football League and fully expects the card to be rescinded.
Speaking of the club's grim disciplinary record Preece said: "On the face of it our record is bad but when you analyse everything we haven't had too many dissent decisions and it's only Jamie Stuart and myself who have let ourselves down in recent weeks.
"Steve Redmond's certainly wasn't a sending off offence at QPR and Jason Jarrett was dismissed for two bookable offences at Swindon, neither of which should have been yellow cards!
"We've even had a Premiership referee come into the club to review our bookings and he couldn't explain how we've picked up half of them."
