POLICE say a man found dead in his Manchester flat at the weekend was originally from the Chorley area.
David Connell, 60, was discovered with multiple stab wounds to his chest at his home in Woodlands Street in the Cheetham Hill area of the city at around 1.40pm on Saturday.
A post mortem examination conducted by a Home Office pathologist over the weekend confirmed he had died from his wounds.
Greater Manchester Police have now launched a murder investigation.
A police spokesman said: "We can confirm that Mr Connell was originally from the Chorley area although at present we do not know exactly where or when he moved from the area to go to Manchester."
Detectives are appealing for anyone with information to call them at Collyhurst CID on 0161 856 3940 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
