ANYONE interested in forming an organic food co-operative in central Darwen is invited to a public meeting being held next Monday.
The meeting is being held at the Central United Reformed Church on Duckworth Street at 7.30pm. The community-led project is being supported by Sure Start, a government funded initiative for families with children under four in Sudell and central Darwen. Sure Start aims to give pre-school children a flying start by providing family and community support services.
Lisa Brooks, of Manic Organics in Bridge Street, praised the idea and said: "It is about providing healthy food in the community and doing it cheaply. Hopefully in the long term food will be grown locally."
For more information call Peter Nowland at Sure Start on 01254 761044.
