PLANS to increase the capacity at Whaddon Road for Sunday's FA Cup clash between Cheltenham Town and the Clarets have had to be shelved.
Cheltenham chairman Paul Baker failed with efforts to get approval for both a big screen and temporary stand.
The game was a sell-out from the start of this week and a 7000 capacity crowd will squeeze into the ground.
The Robins sold all of their tickets in a day and they were just as popular in Burnley.
"We enquired about a big screen but were quoted in the region of £10,000," said Baker. "Clearly this was too expensive and we could not justify spending that amount with no guarantee we could recoup the money - we're talking about nearly half our share of gate receipts for the game."
The club also looked into the possibility of erecting a temporary stand in the canteen area but that proved impossible.
