Clarets skipper Steve Davis has hit back at any suggestion that Burnley are a one man side, reliant on the skills of Glen Little.
At last night's fans' forum, held at Burnley Cricket Club, Davis was asked to comment on the report in last night's Lancashire Evening Telegraph highlighting the difference in results in games Little has started and those he hasn't.
"If you look at the statistics, you have to say that they stand up," he said. "But no one at the club sees it like that.
"We all know that Glen is a good player but football is a team game.
"I am sure other teams do get a lift when his name is not on the team sheet but the fact is we attack as a team, we defend as a team.
"We're not a one man side. If you win it is down to all 11 and it is the same if you lose.
"We have got other players who can come in but at the moment Glen is out and Paul Weller is also injured."
Little was due to be on the panel last night but he has gone away to Lilleshall for rehabilitation work in the hope that he will be back from his hamstring injury ahead of schedule.
The three panellists, Davis, Weller and Andy Payton are all on the Turf Moor injured list at the moment but they all had some good news for the fans about their progress.
Payton, who suffered a bad leg injury in a reserve match a fortnight ago, said: "I am having my stitches out tomorrow, I had to have 35 of them, and then I can start running and doing a bit in training."
Weller, like Little has been suffering from a hamstring injury, and he said: "I will be back in full training at the start of next week and so I hope that I will be fit for selection soon."
It was the away game at Gillingham when Davis last pulled on a claret and blue shirt but having got rid of his leg brace he is hoping that a return is only four weeks away.
That would coincide with the crucial run-in to the season when games will be coming thick and fast.
"It is good to have the brace off and I am now starting to build my leg up," he said. "I hope that I might be fit again in about four weeks."
Clarets coach Mick Docherty was the compere for an evening that saw the players asked questions ranging from who will win the World Cup to should Rangers and Celtic play in England.
The consensus was that Argentina are likely to lift the World Cup in the summer while former Celtic player Payton suggested that it was only the lure of a Champions League spot that was stopping the Old Firm heading south.
There was a healthy crowd that raised funds for the Cricket Club and all four of the panel were thanked for giving up their time.
