WE'RE in a final -- at last! Apt revenge too, nearly ten years after Sheffield Wednesday beat Rovers 4-2 at Ewood at the same stage of this competition.
Rovers were last in a major final in 1960 and only my grandad has memories of that -- and sour ones at that.
And it was 1928 when we last won a cup final, so you could say us supporters are due a cup.
I turned up last night thinking Rovers would win easily. But the atmosphere was tense until Jansen and Duff gave Rovers' fans relief with a two-nil lead before half time.
Then the songs came out and the flags were waved, and we knew we we going -- didn't we?
Garry Flitcroft's sending-off and Sheffield Wednesday's penalty ignited that outraged passion of fans who have been hard done by, and the second half became a cup semi-final rather than a formality.
And the 5,000 Owls fans were great, singing and dancing all the way through. It's just a shame riot police had to move in front of them after a few got out of hand.
Thankfully this was brief as Wednesday's revival and Rovers went 3-1 ahead with Ewood's new hero Andy Cole scoring again.
Cole's goal brought relief and I remember punching the air and shouting "yes!" as it dawned on me I would see Rovers in a final.
At the end all the fans sang songs and waved flags and saluted their heroes in a lap of honour.
The most poignant moment came then with the sound of "One Jack Walker" filling the night.
Cardiff here we come...
