MAY I thank everyone involved in the safe demolition of the tower-block flats at Queen's Park, Blackburn, on January 13, including the local community for their co-operation.
The removal of these flats is the first stage in a process which, with consultation with the local community, will include developing an urban village around the park.
The ultimate aim is to build a strong local community, by providing new homes in a safe environment.
The way the tower blocks fell was a spectacular sight for the hundreds of spectators who turned up to see the Queen's Park landscape altered forever. Work to clear the rubble will continue over a number of weeks.
COUNCILLOR MOHAMMED KHAN, Executive Member for Housing and Neighbourhood Services, Blackburn with Darwen Council.
