AFTER just two games in eight weeks it would appear that someone has introduced a mid-season break without making it official.

Quad bikes and cars have spent more time at Pleasington than we have.

Typically during the weeks of inactivity we have had squad sizes that would have been the envy of most professional clubs and no doubt when the weather does take a turn for the better, Friday nights will be spent trying to find where everyone has disappeared to.

Subsequently our training sessions have taken on new importance with tackles flying in that make the dirty Leeds team of the seventies look like angels.

Although we still head the table the pressure from behind is building as Alex Hotel Reserves, Marleys, Punch Hotel and Oak Tree all attempt to mount a challenge.

One bonus from the period of inactivity has been the opportunity to build up team spirit while enjoying the hospitality provided by our new club sponsors, the Woodlands Hotel.

Having said that, a few waistlines are also building up. Still, it's more productive than shopping or DIY.

While our club hope to achieve success on Saturdays, a number of our squad are involved (unfortunately) in the promotion chase from the Second Division of the Sunday League.

With players at Longshaw, White Bull and Woodlands, someone will probably end the season unhappy and I won't be fuelling the fire by making any rash predictions.

Maybe the team with the fewest Saturday night alcoholics leading to Sunday morning letdowns will win the race.

Perhaps Guide, Dexter Paints and Heys Inn can prevent any arguments by filling the top three places.
