THERE were some turbo charged performances in the annual Blackburn and Darwen Schools swimming gala where four new records were set.
Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School dominated the event yet again winning eight of the 15 event to be crowned overall champions while two pupils set new best times.
Adam Braithwaite, swam a best ever time of 1.15.45 to win the open individual medley competition while Luke Kay won the year seven 25m back crawl in 17.68.
Other records went to Zac Collinge of Our Lady and St Johns who won the year eight 25m front crawl in 15.08.
And Chris Greenacre of St Wilfrids swam to record breaking success in the year nine 25m front crawl in 15.67.
The annual competition was held at QEGS school and it was the hosts who dominated in the pool and took first place with a total of 69 points -- 18 points ahead of second-placed St Wilfrids.
St Bedes finished in third place with 47 points.
Braithwaite added another title after winning the year nine 25m butterfly in 14.93.
Other QEGS winners were Stephen Nevwenhof who won the year seven 25m front crawl while A Bennet who won the 25m breaststroke in the same age group.
C Sharp was first in the year eight 25m breaststroke in a time of 19.12 and the school also triumphed in the open freestyle and medley relay races.
Individual success went to M McKay of Moorland who won the year seven 25m butterfly in 17.03 and also St Wilfrids pair S Holt who won the year eight 25m butterfly in 15.59.
Owen Hargreaves who won the year nine 25m breaststroke in 19.91.
S Morley of St Bedes won the year eight 25m backstroke in 17.71and R Malcolm of Pleckgate won the year nine 25m backstroke in 18.13.
