I READ with interest the comment of Cllr Shirley Burns and her petty attack on Cllr Mark Turner.

Surely this is a case of mistaken identity? The Mark Turner I know is the most kind and compassionate guy you would ever want to meet.

The Mark I know does a great deal for those of us in the community that are often marginalized and abused.

The Mark I know is not the arrogant person that Shirley Burns paints.

Is this the same Shirley Burns who, as a Conservative councillor, described the MBIs as a lacklustre bunch of individuals who she would never join? Perhaps Cllr Burns ought to tell us?

And, contrary to what Tricia Heath peddled in the press, Mark was not pushed by the MBI - he checked his conscience (yes, unusual for a politician) and knew that he had to leave a group that is morally bankrupt and Shirley Burns would do well to take a leaf out of his book.

In my opinion, the wrong person resigned from the MBIs - it should not have been Mark Turner - it should have been Tricia Heath.

Cllr Burns says the loss of the punk festival was 'extremely disappointing' and that the council will try and replace the event with something just as good or better.

If Tricia Heath had not been so full of her own importance and acted like a leader instead of a dictator then the punks would still be coming.

Cllr Burns, ask Tricia Heath about the 'phone call that she made to the punk festival organisers, I bet she doesn't want the public to know about that.

As for Mark's political ambition - well ambition is not a dirty word and I see Mark going far in politics and making a difference for his ward and for Morecambe - something that the MBIs have failed miserably to do.
