LEIGH RU continued their impressive winning run with a decisive 17-7 victory over Ormskirk.
Taking first use of a strong wind, Leigh quickly gained the ascendancy but missed their early penalty chances.
A teasing kick from scrum-half Anthony Bentham and a resulting error from the Ormskirk wing allowed Jim Bridge to open the scoring for Leigh.
They quickly followed it with the best try of the game when Ross Fletcher linked from full-back and sent Ian Wright over in the corner to put Leigh well in command at the break.
Leigh continued to dominate through the forwards against the strong wind and Kieron Purtill marshalled a determined defence.
The game was eventually made safe when Ross Fletcher scored by the posts after concerted forward pressure. Anthony Bentham kicked the conversion to make it 17-0.
Ormskirk mounted a late rally and were rewarded with a try after Fletcher had been sin-binned for retaliation.
There were many strong performances from Leigh, including veteran Andy Billinge who was included after a late withdrawal and centre Steve Lee who carried the ball strongly.
