Leigh Soccer League: THE woes for defending Division One champions Higher Folds continued as they were held to a 3-3 home draw by next to bottom of the table Fir Tree Rangers.
Warren Knowles, Steve Ashbrook and Steve Burns scored for Fold with Neil Rushworth, Mark Fielding and John Bailey securing a well deserved point for Rangers.
Kersal Vale now lead the table by a massive 12 points following a 10-0 humbling of visitors Three Crowns A. Two goals for John Smith took his season tally to the 30 mark but he was outdone on the day by Steve White who got four and George Rowbotham with three. The last goal of the 10 came from Scott Flynn.
Kev Bretherton, Steve Ackers, Paul Banks, Jason Carson and Paul Anderton saw Leigh Avenue to a 5-1 win at AFC Limelight, Nick Hayes getting the home team's consolation goal eight minutes from time.
In Division Two, leaders Howe Bridge Mills won 2-0 at home to Bowling Green through Paul Mee and Paul Molyneux goals to stay three points clear at the top. Second placed Courts have a game in hand but on Saturday were held to a 2-2 draw at Asda Golborne after twice taking the lead. Courts' goals came from Jamie Brown and Anthony Davey with the home team's levellers coming from Gary Nugent and Darren Evans.
Rob Houghton scored five for Atherton Royals in a 9-0 home victory over Horns Inn, further goals coming from Kevin Scholes, Scott Roberts, Wayne Hampson and Tony Young. Two goals in two first half minutes from John McNally appeared to have put Fir Tree Rangers Reserves in the driving seat at Concert Inn but the home side hit back after the break for a 2-2 draw through Andy Hughes and Michael McPike.
