A PET spaniel died after a kitchen fire.
Atherton firefighters tried to revive Charlie, an eight-year-old King Charles spaniel, using oxygen after he was knocked out by fumes at a fire at a house in Cumberland Road, Atherton on Sunday.
Unfortunately, despite their efforts, the dog did not survive.
The fire started about 4.30pm and a fire service spokesman said smoke filled the ground floor of the house but the occupants managed escape.
