WHEN singer Lisa Mannion heard about the plight of leukaemia sufferer Daniel Berry she decided to pitch in and help.
The Atherton soprano has organised a charity concert featuring 'songs from the shows' on Saturday, January 26, at Chowbent Chapel.
Money collected will go to the fund to send 17-year-old Daniel, of Crosby Grove, Atherton, for treatment to America if the trip is necessary after his latest course of treatment.
Daniel, who was diagnosed with the bone marrow disease last August, has so far won his battle against the odds. At Christmas he was told his cancer was in remission.
Two previous doses of chemotherapy had failed and Daniel's family have been raising money for the journey they thought would be his last chance.
Now parents Gary and Elaine hope further sessions of chemotherapy will work while doctors search for a matching bone marrow transplant. They will keep the fund going until they are sure Daniel is safe and the money will then be passed on to an appropriate charity.
The concert will feature some of the area's finest singers and will be produced by top singing teacher Eileen Nelson. Compere is Leigh's Ken Naughton and the event features 16-year-old James Loynes who has a superb adult baritone voice.
Tickets are £3.50 (£2.50 concessions) and are available from Lisa on 01942 877623 or pay at the door.
