THE world of football has lost a great character.
Former West Brom hero and England star, Jeff Astle, died suddenly on Saturday at the age of 59.
After retiring in 1977 he became a window cleaner with the slogan "Jeff Astle - he never misses corners".
Today's highly paid stars wouldn't be reduced to such manual labour. Their playing time may be short, but they're set for life financially if they have any sense.
Fortunately Astle in later years became a TV regular singing, if you could call it that, the finishing song on Fantasy Football. Very funny he was too.
