FOOTBALL fans are in for a treat with a new production by a Preston theatre company.
The Broughton Club Players drama group are staging 'The Love Match', a comedy with a difference, this week.
Set in the North of England during the 1950s, The Love Match tells the tale of the football-mad working class Brown family.
Lancashire mum and dad Bill and Sal live with their two children Percy and Rosie, and new lodger Arthur Brown.
Bill, an engine driver, loves to watch the beautiful game and son Percy loves to play.
At the start of the production, by Glenn Melvyn, Bill is upset with some refereeing decisions he has seen, but little does he know that his new lodger is a referee too -- and Sal won't tell him when she sees how upset he is!
And matters are complicated when daughter Rosie falls head-over-heels for the shy lodger.
Percy meanwhile is more concerned with a big match he has coming up.
The Love Match, directed by Les Cookson, follows the tradition of Lancashire comedies with the highs and lows of emotions between families and friends -- but how will it all end?
Adults and children alike will enjoy the play, which runs until Saturday, January 26, at the Hall, Broughton & District Club, Whittingham Lane, Broughton, Preston.
Members of the audience are welcome to use the bar facilities both before and after the performance.
The play starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available on 774208.
