A GROUP of Norbreck pupils made a splash by winning a swimming gala this month..
The 13 youngsters from years Five and Six at Norbreck Primary School, Norbreck Road, won the Blackpool Inter-Schools Swimming trophy at a gala held at Moor Park Pool, Bispham, on January 11.
Norbreck teacher and team manager Sue Stanley said she was "very proud" of the children.
She explained: "All five teams got through to the finals and achieved a very high standard of swimming, and the girls' medley relay team broke the existing record.
"The atmosphere was excellent and the children behaved very well. The main thing is that they tried their best and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
"It's the taking part that matters. Winning is a bonus!"
Head teacher Ray Fisher added: "The pupils returned to school with cheeks glowing with happiness at their achievement.
"I am extremely proud of them because it is the taking part in such events which is so important. Everyone in school celebrates their success."
