WHILE not absolving any past or present administration from neglect of the rail industry, it is not forgotten or forgiven that Margaret Thatcher was anti-rail to almost a point of paranoia.
Convinced that any worthy Tory would be a car owner anyway, she was anti-rail, pro-road to the core.
I don't suppose today's Tory Party will wish to be reminded of that and such as Kenneth Clarke will be keeping a very low profile, as well he may.
They may wish to forget, but the victims of their neglect certainly won't.
