A POLISH Army veteran suffered severe head injuries when her handbag was snatched in a drive-by attack.
The woman, who is in her 70s, was injured in Ainsworth Road, Radcliffe, shortly before noon on Wednesday (Jan 23).
According to initial reports, a man got out of a car and tried to grab the woman's handbag but she put up a struggle.
The thief then jumped into the car and his victim was dragged several yards along the road before she was forced to let go of her bag.
She was taken to Fairfield General Hospital for treatment to a large cut to her forehead, severe bruising and a suspected fractured finger.
Detectives are asking anyone who saw the handbag snatch to contact them on 856 8248 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
