HAVING already enjoyed an award winning pizza from Santa's, it seems this part of Burnley is absolutely brimming with top class takeaways.
Only a few hundred yards down the road is Spice Island, and from the minute you enter the helpful staff do their best to make your visit a pleasant experience.
Guiding me through the menu they even offered to tone down my partner's dish to suit her taste and then provided coffee while I waited for it to be cooked.
So with such top class service it came as no surprise that the food was spot on.
We kicked off with a massive Onion Bhaji which was almost too much for a starter.
For the main course we were spoilt for choice but eventually settled on a Chicken Tikka Balti which had a good, spicy kick to it and a tangy Chicken Tikka Massala.
With both dishes coming with loads of rich sauce, a naan bread or chapatti is a real must to mop things up.
The total for our evening's fare was £12.80, not the cheapest you'll find but certainly one of the best.
Unable to complete our feast, it's almost impossible to find any fault with the Spice Island and we're already planning our return visit, which is perhaps the best recommendation of all.CL
