FORMER racer Eskil Suter has signed a deal to develop the race engines for the Foggy Petronas Racing team and the associated road-going machine.

Suter Racing Products, the Swiss native's company, have assumed responsibility for the ongoing manufacturing development of the race bike engine.

The design phase of the engine - carried out by Sauber Petronas Engineering, a joint venture between the Malaysian petroleum giant Petronas and the company behind the Formula One team - has been completed.

Fogarty said: "This is the best of both worlds for us.

"We have had the best engine designers involved and now our backers Petronas have chosen the best engine developers to turn our bike into a competitive machine."

Fogarty, who recently completed his rider line-up by signing former World Superbike champion Troy Corser alongside British rider James Haydon, plans to enter this year's championship at round nine at the Laguna Seca circuit in California in July.

Suter Racing Products will also be responsible for developing the engine for the Foggy FP1 road bike which should go on public display at the fifth round of the championship at Monza, Italy in May.
