NELSON boss John Bailey breathed a sigh of relief after his side chalked up only their second NWCL Division Two win in 14 games.
A 1-0 win over bottom club Castleton is something the Blues need to build on when they welcome league new boys Norton United to Victoria Park tomorrow.
"It should have been about seven but with it being just one they always had a chance," said the Nelson chief.
"We have loads of chances but the finishing was woeful but saying that at the start of the game I just said go out and win, it doesn't matter how. And we did that."
The Blues boss is still hoping to get a striker in before the weekend to link up with Micky Bartholomew, signed from Stand a month ago.
"Micky sets up a lot of chances, he is looking good and Dave Channon, who we signed from Stand last week, did well.
"As a defender it wasn't the hardest game to put him into but he still looked the part."
Nelson, who have been on the verge of promotion for the last two seasons, need to get it together now if they are to make any impact near the top.
"We need to go on a run. We have three home games now and it doesn't matter who we are playing we have got to win.
"If we can be in the top five or six going into the last third of the season then it could make it interesting towards the end of the season."
