ANNA Newell is on trial in Nottingham this weekend as she looks to get into the England netball squad.
With the Commonwealth Games coming up in July, a Test series has been organised at the Manchester Evening News Arena in the next few months.
There England will face World Champions Australia, highly-rated Barbados and Northern Ireland.
And Rishton's Anna is at hoping to be named in the 12-strong squad that will compete.
"I have got my fingers crossed that I get a letter to say that I am selected," said the 22-year-old who can play at centre or wing defence.
"There are 14 of us going for the trials at Nottingham, but one is already missing because she is injured so it means just one of us will miss out.
"I hope it's not me as it will be horrible for the one that does.
"But this is not the final team for the Commonwealth Games so there are still plenty of chances."
The Tests will be hard but the results will not be too important with the main focus on the Games in Manchester where England will be hoping to go one step further than the bronze medal they won at Kuala Lumpur in 1998.
"There will be a variety of standards in the Tests as Australia and Barbados are in the Games but Northern Ireland aren't," added Anna.
"All the countries will be able to practise different things and new ideas so it will be good."
