DENIS Underwood has gone for experience in a bid to move Great Harwood out of the relegation fight in NWCL Division One.
He has signed former Morecambe, Lancaster and Clitheroe midfielder Dave Sharples who will go straight into the action for tomorrow's clash at home to Curzon Ashton.
"He may be in his late 30s but he trained this week and he is still very fit," said the Harwood chief.
"Teams have been using the ball better than us, keeping hold of it and passing better. We have been giving it away aimlessly and do not get it back so we are giving cheap goals away.
"Dave will help us stop doing this and most of the lads know him, so it is good that he is here."
Harwood lost to fellow strugglers Congleton last week in a game Underwood were desperate for them not to lose.
"All the players just had an off day. I was frustrated. It was one of our worst performances and if we carry on playing like that for the rest of the season they we will be in a real fight. But I am sure we won't.
"We have played Curzon twice this season, won one and lost one, so it is pretty even. They have gone off the boil a bit but we'll see.
"We have a mixture of games coming up. We have Clitheroe, Salford and St Helens away which will be tough."
