POLICE have praised security staff for their actions after a man was seen slashing himself with a razor blade in Blackburn town centre.
The man, who has not been named, was spotted by security staff in Blackburn Market toilets at about 1.30pm yesterday where he was cutting his wrists with the blade.
He then made his way into the TJ Hughes store where he was detained by store security staff and police were called.
The man was later arrested for public order offences.
Town Centre police Sgt Dave Sherrington said: "The actions of both the market security staff and those in TJ Hughes, along with town centre police officers were both prompt and effective as this man was a danger to himself and could have been so to others."
