TALK of the Worthington Cup final is outlawed at Ewood over the next couple of weeks.

With important league games against Arsenal, West Ham and Fulham coming up, thoughts of the clash at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff against Spurs have been put to one side - for now.

"Every week is a big week especially in the Premier League," said boss Graeme Souness.

"We have to put the Worthington Cup final out of our minds, we have to concentrate on the FA Cup today followed by a very very hard game on Wednesday against Arsenal.

"But we want to be playing in these big games every week and we are enjoying being in the Premier League."

Souness is delighted that, helped by the arrival of record signing Andy Cole, Rovers have now started finding the back of the net with regularity as they strive to move from the wrong end of the Premier League table.

"To be fair, we have looked like scoring goals in most of the games we have played this season - except perhaps Sunderland and Everton at home," he said.

"But we have looked like scoring in most others games and Andy Cole has come along and made sure we have created even more opportunities and long may it continue.

"When you look at teams like Manchester United, one of the major reasons that they are a top team is that they do not rely on just one person to get the goals.

"They create a lot of opportunities, there is a lot of movement, and they get the goals from different areas and that is what a top team does.

"With Andy Cole in our team, he has the clever movement to create chances for the rest of the team."

And he is happy with the current mix of old and young which is proving profitable at Ewood Park.

"We have the right mixture. The younger ones probably learn more from the older ones than the coach because they spend a lot more time with them.

"The senior players keep the younger heads in their place and make sure they are professional."
