AN auxiliary nurse has raised £3,000 for Queen's Park Hospital from the sale of his book of old Blackburn.
Dino Christodoulou, of Yates Fold, Blackburn, wrote '1963 Blackburn: a Proud Town,' after meeting millionaire former businessman Peter Street, of Langho.
Dino, 38, was presenting an historic slide-show of Blackburn to patients when he met Mr Street, who was recovering on the ward from a stroke. He offered to pay the cost of the production of a book of the slides, which has been hugely successful. There were so many slides that the book had to be printed in two volumes.
The funds will go towards buying special electric beds for Ward 8 at the hospital.
The book is available, at £5, from the reception of the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, High Street, Bookland, off Lord Square and the 'Ask Us' Information Centre on the Boulevard.
