REGARDING the story by Ms C Smith (Letters,. January 18) what a laugh it was. But don't drivers these days know about hand signals?
When I started to drive in 1961, on the driving test you had to first use indicators then go on to use hand signals.
For a right turn you put your arm out of the window. For a left turn you put your arm out and did a circular motion and for slowing down to stop, you put your arm out again, making a waving down motion.
I don't think drivers today have the time to do this. So forget the white glove on a stick for a left turn.
MARGARET SMITH (Mrs), Mill Lane, Great Harwood.
