A BATHROOM showroom to be opened in Burnley next month will create 17 jobs as part of a £250,000 investment in the town.

And the businessman behind the venture has already revealed that more jobs could be on the cards if the venture is a success.

Paul Capstick, 30, from Burnley, runs Marni UK with his father Harvey, former boss of M Harvey Construction.

The family's latest venture, named after Paul's daughter, will include separate offices for bathroom installation and a manufacturing unit at a former mill in Cavour Street, close to junction 11 of the M65.

The showroom, will open for a preview on February 3 and open for business the next day.

Paul said: "We hope to increase the number of people working on installations by another 10 in the next 12 months if all goes as well as expected."

Paul took over the running of Harvey Construction, specialising on plumbing and heating jobs before the company became involved with Heritage Bathrooms, providing their introduction to the bathroom industry about five years ago.

Harvey Construction was wrapped up and the new specialist bathroom company set up.

A building has been constructed on the site at a cost of more than £250,000 while the mill behind was also bought. Half of it is used by the manufacturing side and half leased to a wrought iron manufacturers which moved to Burnley from Accrington.

Paul said: "The mill was known as Ashley Street works and was once used by the college many years ago for vehicle repairs, hairdressing and other uses."

The opening will be marked by the release of 250 balloons with prizes of a shower enclosure valued at £1,000 and another for a choice of a range of installations valued at between £300 to £2,000.
