A 15-YEAR-OLD boy was rescued by Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue team after falling in the Trough of Bowland yesterday lunchtime.
The boy, who was part of a group of eight people, fell while walking over Saddle Fell and broke his arm.
Other members of the group called for emergency assistance and the rescue team was mobilised as well as Lancashire Air Ambulance from Blackpool Airport.
The bad weather held off long enough to allow the air ambulance helicopter to land and take him to Blackburn Royal Infirmary.
The mountain rescue team had been exercising all weekend in the area and was just on its way back to Preston when the call came.
Team Leader Tony Bond said: "If the incident had happened a short while later the cloud and rain was building fast and I'm not sure the helicopter would have been able to see to land.
"It saved us a long walk, though we are always on hand to assist when required."
A 40-year-old man lay in a remote spot in Rivington Pike for four days before being rescued by Lancashire Air Ambulance crew on Saturday morning.
The man, from the Astley Bridge area of Bolton was discovered by a park ranger at 10am.
Air crew paramedic Liam Donnelly said: "The man had fallen and had been there since Thursday.
He had slipped on the steps of the Pigeon Tower Victorian folly and had managed to drag himself up into the shelter part of the folly.
"Surprisingly he was quite well and although he had lower back injuries his main problem was exposure -- he reached Bolton Royal Hospital in four minutes."
A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester police said the man had been reported missing from Astley Bridge on Friday.
Following inquiries by police officers his car was discovered at Rivington Primary School but a search of the area on Friday night was unsuccessful.
Prior to an extensive search being conducted on Saturday morning the man was discovered by the park ranger.
He was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital by air ambulance and was being treated for injuries to his back.
