THE notoriously soggy pitches at Burnley's Gawthorpe training ground claimed another victim at the weekend when the youth team fixture against Oldham Athletic was postponed.
That means that Terry Pashley's young side will have to wait until Saturday to try and get back to winning ways with the visit of Rochdale.
A number of the youth squad may benefit from the unscheduled day off as they could be included in the reserve side that will take on Barnsley at Turf Moor tomorrow night, kick off 7.15pm.
With injuries continuing to give Stan Ternent a headache in relation to the first team, eight of Pashley's squad were in Ronnie Jepson's side that was mauled 7-1 by Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground in the last outing.
A late collapse contributed to a disappointing night but the hope will be that the young players who were involved will have learned from the experience and become better for it.
The one bright spot for the Clarets that night was Damien Hindle's first goal at reserve team level and he will be hoping to be involved again.
Hindle had started the year in good form for the youth team by bagging a brace in the 3-1 victory over Blackpool.
Also on reserve team duty at Wrexham were Earl Davis, Paul Scott, Andrew Waine, Andrew Leeson, Matt O'Neill, Joel Pilkington and Jonathan Leary.
Both Pashley and Jepson have been pleased with the contribution the younger players have made to the reserve side and Davis will certainly have benefited from playing alongside such an experienced campaigner as Mitchell Thomas.
Teenager Davis may be in line to play the generation game again and partner the 37-year-old in the heart of the defence against the Tykes as Thomas continues on the road to recovery.
And the injury to first choice keeper Nik Michopoulos may offer James Salisbury another chance in goal, if Ternent is unwilling to risk his other Greek keeper Luigi Cennamo.
Salisbury has played in one match for Jepson's side, the 2-0 home defeat by Rotherham United.
