SCOUTS from the area enjoyed activities such a building their own tables and chairs during an event at Bowley Scout Camp.
Thirty-six Scouts, including some from Blackburn, Darwen, Wilpshire, Ribchester and Burnley, took part in the training weekend in preparation for the 20th World Scout Jamboree being held in Thailand in December.
The Scouts will be part of the 2,500 strong contingent from the UK travelling to Bangkok just before Christmas next year.
There, they will join up with the rest of the 30,000 Scouts and Guides from all over the world.
The theme for the Jamboree is Sawadee, which translates to Share our world, share our culture.
Activities at the jamboree will include climbing, hiking and scuba diving as well as taking part in community projects such as building a bridge and creating a peace garden.
Over the next 12 months the East Lancashire Scouts will be taking part in a major fund-raising exercise to raise the £2,500 per person needed to pay for the event.
The Scouts will also be helping young people from the Caribbean, Malawi and the Southern Pacific Islands to get to Thailand.
Anyone wanting to sponsor the Scouts should call Susan Haworth on 01254 249717.
