BLACKBURN boss Graeme Souness is currently running the rule over exciting young striker Paul McManus.
The 19-year-old Scot, who has scored 13 goals for East Fife this season, has spent several days on trial at Brockhall.
But the Ewood chief may not follow up his interest with a concrete bid for the player, despite interest from both Rangers and Celtic.
"He was recommended to us by some coaching contacts and he was invited down for a couple of days of training," said chief executive, John Williams.
"But I don't know whether anything will come of it. I think it was just an opportunity to have a closer look at him."
East Fife have a history of producing exciting young players having sold Steven Ferguson to Spurs for £250,000 last season.
And McManus is widely regarded as one of the next up and coming talents in Scottish football after earning some rave reviews this season.
Rovers have announced a new date for their home game against Ipswich Town in the Premiership.
Originally, the match was due to take place on Saturday, February 23, but due to Rovers' involvement in the Worthington Cup final it has now had to be rescheduled for Wednesday, March 13 (kick-off 745pm).
If Rovers' fifth round FA Cup clash with Middlesbrough on Saturday February 16 ends in a draw then the date for the replay will be Wednesday February 27.
