NEW Colne pro Charl Langeveldt has the bowling prowess to win the Transco Lancashire League side matches next season.
That is the verdict of the team boss Trevor Lonsdale, who believes a top bowler is more of an asset to a side than a top quality batsman.
"It is your bowlers that win you matches," said Lonsdale.
"I know that is not a widely-held belief but it is my belief.
"He is a great bowler and he can bat a bit as well I hope.
"One of our former pros, Craig Norris, recommended him to us. He is well thought of in South African cricket."
The 27-year-old, who has represented the national side in one-day internationals, replaces Marcus North. The side finished fourth from bottom last season.
"Marcus was too young," said Lonsdale. "Too inexperienced."
Langeveldt, a right hand bat, right arm fast medium bowler is currently in Australia for the triangular series between South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
He played in the game against Australia in Brisbane, bowling for five overs, conceding 31 runs, and scoring three runs as the last batsman.
His first class figures are: bowled 590 overs taking 61 wickets at an average of 27 runs per wicket.
He averages 16 with the bat, scoring a total of 338 runs in 23 matches.
He is a regular in the South Africa 'A' side for one-day internationals and has taken 81 wickets in 44 games.
