GRANDPARENTS who look after their grandchildren on a regular basis are invited to join a self-help group.
SureStart workers were holding a welcoming event today to publicise the group and attract more grandparents to the sessions.
The event is from 12.30 to 2pm at St Peter's Church, Darwen.
A spokesman said: "Grandparents are often called upon to look after their grandchildren and form part of the resources that families fall back on.
"They have an important part to play in child care arrangements and their contribution and role in this is often overlooked."
The group was set up to put grandparents in touch with each other, share experiences and offer help and advice.
Anyone interested in should phone either Peter Nowland on 01254 761044 or Carol Fergusson on 01254 761050.
Sure Start is a government-funded initiative for families with children under four in Sudell and Central Darwen.
It aims to give pre-school children a flying start by providing a wide range of family and community support services.
