PARKING problems in Barnoldswick have prompted a police request to prohibit waiting in Church Street.
Pendle Council have received a request from Lancashire Constabulary to introduce an order forbiding parking between Monday and Saturday, from 9am to 6pm. Officers feel the proposals will prove more of a deterrent to thoughtess drivers and will allow the police to properly tackle the potentially dangerous parking of vehicles in Church Street.
Council officers have confirmed the views of the police that there is a substantial amount of irresponsible parking taking place that would be better addressed by the introduction of more stringent waiting restrictions.
The loading and unloading of deliveries to businesses in Church Street would be exempt from any prosecution.
Council officers have recommended members to revoke current waiting resrictions at tomorrow night's West Craven Committee.
