PRIMARY school pupils in Darwen are learning about the importance of keeping their environment clean this week.
The Splinter Theatre Group will be visiting Sudell Primary School, St Edward's and Holy Trinity School to explain to pupils why they should keep the River Darwen clean.
The theatre group are arriving as part of an anti-litter campaign organised by Groundwork Blackburn and funded by the Peter Moores Foundation.
The project is hoping to increase awareness about the River Darwen and its tributaries and the effect litter has on them.
Litter in the River Darwen is substantial in places and the effects of litter dropping and fly-tipping have a considerable impact on the wildlife -- both in and around the river.
To help get this message across Groundwork Blackburn has hired the theatre group who will be performing a play about the River Darwen to the pupils.
