A MUM who has children with severe behavioural problems today pleaded for more compassion after her family was warned to quieten down or face eviction.

Yolanda Hillman received a letter from Twin Valley Homes earlier this week ordering her to stop her three dogs barking at her home in Hareden Brook Close, Blackburn.

She claimed her neighbours had complained, not just because of the German shepherd, cross collie and Lancashire heeler, but because her children, Kylie, 12, and Christian, 10, have a genetic disorder which causes them to scream and shout.

She said her doctor had advised her to get the dogs to help their condition.

Yolanda said the letter had added to her stress and that she should be respected for looking after the two children when she could have given them up.

Kylie and Christian have Albright's Syndrome, from which their father, Neil, also suffers mildly.

Kylie has the mind of a three-year-old and Christian that of a five-year-old.

They have learning difficulties, behavioural problems and are often aggressive.

Both are pupils at special schools in Blackburn.

Yolanda claimed: "The dogs are for the children because they have nothing in life. The doctors told me to get the dogs because it's good for them. I want people to know the way I am being treated and the way people get treated who have disabled people.

"I should have respect from people -- I care for my kids 24 hours a day.

"I would give my right arm for them.

"I am already under enough pressure and I cry every night because of how they are."

One neighbour, who said she hadn't complained to Twin Valley Homes this time but had fallen out with the family in the past, said: "I feel sorry for Yolanda.

"But the dogs do bark a lot and the kids scream and shout.

"The pets are friends for the children because they cannot play out but they aren't the best neighbours to have."

Gwyneth Sarkar, director of Housing at Twin Valley Homes, said: "Mrs Hillman was sent a warning letter this week regarding noise from her dogs barking at all hours of the day and night.

"The letter requests that Mrs Hillman take the necessary steps to resolve this under the terms of her tenancy agreement."
