PROMISING youngster Ian Black was again on the scoresheet at the weekend but it wasn't enough to secure another victory for Rovers' Under 17s.

Black, a Scottish Under 17 international, has been in prolific form all season weighing in with a number of vital goals from midfield for Rob Kelly's side.

And he found the net again as his side had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Sunderland in the north east.

However, Ian Miller's Under 19s crashed to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of an enterprising Stoke City side.

Ryan Hevicon notched for Rovers but it proved little more than a consolation on the day as City ran out comfortable winners.

"With the Youth Team in action against Arsenal tonight, we decided to rest practically all the players who will be involved at Highbury," said Academy chief Bobby Downes.

"That meant we were a little bit understrength as a result and that probably had an adverse affect on the results although the lads who came in did well."

Black is now likely to step into the breach tonight with England Under 18 midfielder Ciaran Donnelly ruled out of the Arsenal game through suspension.
