THE outrageous proposals by Lancashire County Council to axe old people's homes (LET, February 1) is an affront to the dignity of our older generation.
The majority of these old people have fought in two world wars for the freedom of this nation and have suffered untold miseries and hardships about which this younger generation knows nothing -- and for what? To be dumped on the scrapheap because of bungling bureaucracy cutting costs at every corner.
Well, this corner shall be defended and it is up to the people of Lancashire, the taxpayers, to do so.
I urge like-minded people who wish to defend their older generation to stand up and be counted. Lobby your MP; write letters of objection; voice your opinion and be heard! The Government should be brought to book on this issue. If they can overspend £700 million on asylum seekers, where will the line be drawn?
Our pensioners are now being forced to become asylum seekers in their own country. Let's get our priorities right. Please act for our older generation. If we don't, who will?
